GEN DEPTH VARYING FROM A FEW MTRS TO 28MTRS. SILVER PLATED NICKEL FORK WITH INSCRIPTION 'ORUBA' AND SHOWING OUTLINE OF A PENNANT CONTAINING LETTERS 'W & H'. STEEL PLATES SURROUND AREA AND A FEW APPARENTLY LEAD INGOTS OBSERVED. TO SW OF THIS POSN, CABLE AND TWO LARGE ADMIRALTY PATTERN ANCHORS, POSSIBLY FROM ANOTHER VESSEL. (B WINFIELD, BSAC DONCASTER, 7.6.82). H5249/76 24.6.82 RESEARCH INDICATES THAT INITIALS 'W & H' ON FORK REFER TO CUTLERS WALKER & HALL AND ORUBA WAS A PARTICULAR DESIGN. (W E BUTLAND, BSAC, 18.6.82). HH100/351/15 28.10.99 LIES IN 5538.950N, 0136.050 [WGD]. ON A SLOPING STONEY BANK ABOUT 25MTRS OUT FROM THE KNIVESTONE AT THE SW CORNER. GEN DEPTH 16MTRS. BOILERS STAND UPRIGHT AMONGST A JUMBLE OF WRECKAGE. (R YOUNG, LTR DTD 26.10.99). NCA. STS. HH090/915/01 21.1.02 NOT LOCATED. (GARDLINE, HI 915). NCA. BUILT IN 1900 BY PALMER'S CO OF NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY HAMBERG-AMERIKA PACKETF AG. THREE BOILERS, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE, SINGLE SCREW. 642 HP. INTERNED IN CHILE DURING WW1. AFTER THE WAR WAS RELEASED AND WHILST ON HER RETURN TO GERMANY RAN ONTO THE KNIFESTONE.
