Circumstances of loss

AIRCRAFT SANK WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF CONTROLLED DITCHING FOLLOWING ENGINE FAILURE WHILST TAKING PART IN AIR SEA RESCUE MISSION. PLANE CARRIED AN AIRBORNE LIFEBOAT WHICH IT WAS UNABLE TO DROP BEFORE DITCHING. ALL 4 CREW ABANDONED SAFELY. (R MCNEILL).
