BUILT IN 1895 BY HARLAND & WOLFFE, BELFAST. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY LEYAND LINE. SIX BOILER, QUADRUPLE EXPANSION ENGINES OF 718HP, ?TWIN SHAFT. PASSAGE NEWPORT NEWS, USA FOR AVONMOUTH. CARGO 3000 MULES. SIGHTED U-38 AND ALTERED COURSE TO BRING THE ENEMY ASTERN. SOON OVERHAULED BY THE SUBMARINE AND SHELLED. SUFFERED DAMAGE, ENGINE STOPPED AND ABANDONED TO BOATS. STRUCK BY TWO TORPEDOES AND SANK. 29 MEN LOST.
