Circumstances of loss

STRUCK REEF OF ROCKS RUNNING OUT FROM CAHER ISLAND, OFF MIZEN HEAD, AND SANK. VESSEL, BUILT IN 1870 BY HARLAND WITH COMPOUND INVERTED ENGINES, WAS ON PASSAGE BOSTON TO LIVERPOOL. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY F. LEYLAND & CO. 35 LIVES LOST. (DODS & SHIPWRECKS OF THE IRISH COAST, E BOURKE)
