19.1.1916 BUILT IN 1911 BY THE VULKAN CO. SCHULZ-THORNEYCROFT BOILERS, TURBINE ENGINES OF 22300IHP FOR 25.5KTS. TWELVE 4.1 INCH GUNS. CAME OUT FROM DARDANELLES ON 19.1.1916 WITH GERMAN BATTLE CRUISER GOEBEN & ESCORT OF 4 TURKISH DESTROYERS. MADE ATTACK EARLY NEXT MORNING ON BRITISH SHIPS LYING IN KUSU BAY. AFTER RUNNING INTO HEAVILY MINED AREA WAS BADLY HOLED AND TAKEN IN TOW BY GOEBEN. STRUCK 4 MORE MINES IN QUICK SUCCESSION & WAS ABANDONED AS SHE BEGAN TO SINK. (DODS).
