16.7.84 BUILT IN 1894 BY ROPNER & CO, STOCKTON-ON-TEES. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY R ROPNER & CO. THREE BOILERS, TRIPLE EXANSION ENGINE, SINGLE SHAFT. PASSAGE NEWPORT, MON, FOR CIVITAVECCHIA. RAN ASHORE WHILST STEAMING AT REDUCED SPEED IN THICK FOG ON SECOND VOYAGE. BOATS WERE SWUNG OUT. DISTRESS ROCKETS SIGHTED BY PENDEEN COASTGUARD AND 10 CREW WERE RECOVERED BY ROCKET LIFESAVING APPARATUS, THE OTHER 2 LANDING VIA THE PORT BOAT. REFLOATED 16.7.84 BUT PUMPS WERE UNABLE TO CONTAIN LEAKS AND VESSEL FOUNDERED IN 17FMS. (SIBI).
