11.1.1900 DURING 4 DAYS AFTER SINKING SANK DOWN ABOUT 15FT THROUGH THE SAND ONTO HARD BOTTOM. LIFT ON 11.1.1900 UNSUCCESSFUL DUE TO INSUFFICIENT SIZE OF LIFTING VESSELS. AT HALF FLOOD ONE CAMEL WAS UNDER WATER FOR HALF HER LENGTH, OTHER CAMEL & TWO LUMPS WERE IMMERSED UP TO THEIR DECKS & ALL WIRE ROPES HAD TO BE SLACKENED TO PREVENT SINKING. POWER EXERTED BY FOUR LIFTING VESSELS EQUAL TO 800TONS; ESTIMATED WEIGHT 600TONS. DESTROYED BY MD & HB BETWEEN 20.2 & 30.4.1900. DEPTH BELOW LBD.
