Circumstances of loss
BUILT 1880 BY E WITHY & CO., WITH COMPOUND ENGINES OF 150HP. OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY FERGUSON & REID. STRUCK SOME ROCKS AND FOUNDERED NEAR ILE DE SEIN WHILE ON PASSAGE BILBAO FOR THE CLYDE. 20 CREW MEMBERS DROWNED. THE ONLY SURVIVOR WAS FOUND CLINGING TO AN UPTURNED BOAT. (DODS).
