A CENTRE CASTLE FREIGHTER OF APPROX LENGTH 120MTRS, UPRIGHT AND INTACT. MASTS CUT OFF AT 14MTRS, IN GEN DEPTH 27MTRS. SCOURED TO 30MTRS. BOW FACES 090 DEGS. MOST LIKELY A WARTIME WRECK. HAS A 4 OR 5 INCH GUN MOUNTED ON THE STERN AND MANY OF THE DECKS AND SIDES OF WHEELHOUSE/RADIO ROOM ARE COVERED WITH 6 INCH CONCRETE SLABS FOR PROTECTION. MOSTLY INTACT, BUT STBD BOW DAMAGED AND COLLAPSED. STILL HAS CARGO OF CEMENT IN BAGS, MUNITIONS AND AIRCRAFT PARTS. ONE COMPLETE ENGINE IS IDENTIFIABLE. LIES EQUIDISTANT FROM [47797] AND [47798], WHICH MAY BE SAME VESSEL REPORTED TWICE. (V SKOGLIE, EMAIL DTD 10.9.00). AMEND TO WK 14MTRS IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. HH100/351/16 26.1.01 LOCATED IN 0517.83S, 10616.64E [WGD] USING GPS. WK HAS LARGE HOLD BELOW THE WATERLINE AND STBD BOW INDICATES TORPEDO DAMAGE. STILL HAS A CARGO OF MUNITIONS AND AIRCRAFT PARTS. ONE AERO ENGINE IS SITTING ONTHE PORT SIDE DECK, INTACT, ALTHOUGH CORRODED. SIZE OF VESSEL IS CORRECT. CERTAIN THAT THIS IS THE 'DERRYMORE'.
