12.1.1909 EX-HMS BONETTA. BUILT OF IRON IN 1871 BY J & G RENNIE, GREENWICH. BUILT AS AN RN GUNBOAT OF THE 'ANT' CLASS, SOLD OUT OF SERVICE IN 12.1.1909 AND CONVERTED TO SALVAGE SHIP. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS NE SALVAGE AND SHIPBREAKING CO LTD. ONE BOILER, HORIZONTAL COMPOUND EXPANSION ENGINE OF 100NHP, SINGLE SHAFT. PASSAGE WHITBY FOR RAMSGATE. WHILE UNDER TOW OF A TUG, THIS SALVAGE VESSEL DEVELOPED A SEVERE LEAK IN HEAVY WEATHER AND FOUNDERED. ONE LIFEBOATMAN WAS LOST. (SIBI).
