Circumstances of loss

BUILT IN 1974 BY MARATHON LE TOURNEAU CO., VICKSBURG, MISSOURI. CAPSIZED WHEN ONE OF ITS LEGS SANK INTO SUBSOIL, IN BASSEIN FIELD OFF THE BOMBAY COAST. ALL 77 PEOPLE WERE SAFELY EVACUATED. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY DIXILYN-FIELD DRILLING COMPANY, ON CHARTER TO ONGC. THE SELF ELEVATING DRILLING PLATFORM WAS THEN SALVAGED AND THEN DUMPED IN DEEP WATER. (MSD)
