Circumstances of loss

10.5.78 CUT IN TWO WHEN IN COLLISION WITH FRENCH MV ROSELINE, WHILE EN ROUTE ROTTERDAM TO GRANGEMOUTH. STERN SECTION TOWED TO ROTTERDAM. BOW SECTION REMAINED AFLOAT AND CAUSED OIL POLLUTION OVER ABOUT 20 MILES OF SUFFOLK COAST. (LL 8 & 10.5.78). AFTER ABOUT 3 WEEKS, DURING WHICH WK WAS BEACHED TWICE AND VARIOUS ATTEMPTS MADE TO REMOVE FUEL CARGO, BOW WAS SCUTTLED BY RN DEMOLITION TEAM ON 30/5/78.
