(NP 1016, HI 563). - NM 3460/92. 17.12.08 MAINLY BROKEN UP WITH A LARGE SANDWAVE DISSECTING THE WK MIDSHIPS. MAX DEPTH IS ABOUT 16MTRS. LARGE NUMBER OF BARRELS OF CLAY TOWARD THE BOW FORMING THE SHOALEST POINT. PART OF THE BOW IS UPRIGHT BUT IS ONLY 1.5MTRS ABOVE SEABED. PIECES OF GLASS, CHILDREN'S TOYS, IRONWARE AND BOTTLES OF AROMATIC SCHNAPPES SPREAD OVER THE WK. FROM THE RECORDS OF LOCAL PAPERS, CARGO AND DIMENSIONS BELIEVE THIS TO BE 'GALATEA'. (T BENJAFIELD). LEAST M/B DEPTH 6.37MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 16MTRS, LENGTH 99.5MTRS, WIDTH 48.9MTRS, HEIGHT 9.6MTRS, ORIENTATION 155/335 DEGS. (MERITAITO, HI 1580). WRECK MOSTLY BROKEN APART, BUT LARGE MOUND IS LEFT THAT PROTRUDES PROMINENTLY FROM THE SEABED. VARIOUS MASTS CAN BE SEEN AROUND THE WRECK ON THE SEABED. AMEND DW 6.3MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
