SUSTAINED CRACK IN HULL ON HITTING A SUBMERGED OBJECT WHILE ON PASSAGE TUBARAO, BRAZIL FOR KAKOGAWA, JAPAN. WAS TOWED TO ANGRA DOS REIS BUT REPAIR REQUIREMENT PROVED UNECONOMIC. WAS TOWED AND SCUTTLED IN DEEP WATER. (MSD).
