HH100/351/15 9.5.00 LIES ON A SANDY SEA FLOOR ABOUT 200MTRS INSHORE FROM THE W END OF THE BOW SECTION OF 'OSLOFJORD' IN 5500.052N, 0123.900W [OGB]. THE WHOLE OUTLINE OF THE HULL CAN BE MADE OUT, WITH IRON FRAMES, RIBS, BOTTOM SECTIONS, GIRDERS AND BROKEN MACHINERY. MOST STANDS 0.5-1MTR HIGH. SURROUNDED BY A SMALL SCOUR. BOILER STANDS UPRIGHT, BUT SHOWS SIGNS OF BREAKING UP. NOT POSITIVELY IDENTIFED AS 'HEKLA'. (R YOUNG). INS AS FOUL. BR STD. 28.10.04 EUT POSN: 5500.057N, 0123.997W. NE 1934.

BUILT IN 1874. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY A/S HEKLA. ONE BOILER, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE, SINGLE SHAFT. PASSAGE BILBAO FOR THE TYNE. WAS IN COLLISION WITH SS DILKIRA, JUST S OF THE TYNE. THE MASTER TRIED TO BEACH HER BUT SHE SANK WITH THE LOSS OF 7 OF THE 17 CREW.
