BUILT IN 1920 BY THORNYCORF & CO. THORNEYCROFT BOILERS, TURBINE ENGINES OF 40,000 SHP FOR 36KTS. FOUNDERED UNDER TOW AFTER BEING BADLY DAMAGED BY SHORE BATTERIES, WHILST FORCING HER WAY INTO ALGIERS HARBOUR THE PREVIOUS DAY. 9 MEN WERE KILLED. FORMALLY CALLED `ROOKE'. (COLLEDGE, BRITAIN'S SEA WAR & DODS).
