BY ALEXANDER MCKEE, WHOSE TEAM FOUND LOW MOUNDS OF WRECKAGE WITH 18TH CENT. POTTERY AND OTHER SHIPS FITTINGS STANDING 5 OR 6 FT ABOVE SEABED. (PAMPHLET 'THE MARY ROSE', 1978). H1937/80 11.8.82 NOT FOUND DURING ROUTINE SOUNDING. (SCESU, HI 4(A)). H1286/86/304 19.5.87 HER GUNS WERE RECOVERD BY ENOCH TONKIN IN 1803 AND THE WRECK WAS DISPERSED USING EXPLOSIVES BY SIR CHARLES PASLEY BETWEEN 1820 AND 1842. (SYDNEY EVENING NEWS SUPPLEMENT, 3.10.1896 - COPY SUPPLIED BY P BENNETT, 8.5.87). HH3847/86/2 30.5.90 NOTHING FOUND WITHIN 200MTRS RADIUS OF LISTED POSN DURING DCS3 AND E/S SEARCH. Circumstances of loss

FOUNDERED AT SPITHEAD. (SHIPS OF THE ROYAL NAVY). WHILE KEELED OVER TO REPAIR A PIPE, A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND WASHED A SEA INTO HER PORTS AND SHE CAPSIZED AND SANK. ABOUT 600 LIVES WERE LOST INCLUDING REAR-ADMIRAL KEMPENFELDT.
