27.12.1890 BUILT IN 27.12.1890 BY STEPHENSON, NEWCASTLE. 2X 6IN, 6X 7IN & 8-6PDR. RAN ASHORE IN HEAVY WEATHER, ONE CASUALTY. WAS A TOTAL WRECK, PARTS OF WHICH CAN STILL BE FOUND OFF GROOTRIF, LOCAL FARMERS CLAIM TO HAVE SALVAGED STICKS OF LYDDITE WHICH MAKE EXCELLENT FIRE LIGHTERS AS RECENTLY AS 1971. (SHIPS OF THE ROYAL NAVY & SA PILOT, VOL.2, PAGE 120)
