22.8.17 BUILT IN 1911. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY THE BRITISH & ARGENTINE STEAM NAVIGATION CO, LONDON. SAILED SIERRA LEONE ON 22.8.17 IN CONVOY FOR SPITHEAD. TORPEDOED BY UC 50 IN THE STERN. LOSE PORT PROP AND RUDDER. FURTHER TORPEDO HIT STBD FWD AND THE VESSEL SETTLED. TORPEDOED & SUNK BY SUBMARINE 50 MILES SSW FROM START POINT ON PASSAGE FROM BUENOS AIRES. 4 LIVES LOST. (LL WW1 & WW1SL).
