Circumstances of loss
3.3.13 BEACHED IN WHALEBONE COVE. ARRIVED IN FALKLANDS, UNDER NORWEGIAN FLAG, 3.3.13 & STRUCK URANIE RK IN BERKLEY SOUND. WAS SO BADLY DAMAGED THAT IT WAS DECIDED TO DISPOSE OF HER LOCALLY. SERVED AS FLOATING WATCHHOUSE UNTIL BEACHED ON 17.2.36. (CONDEMNED AT STANLEY). 4.11.97 BUILT 1879 BY ROBERT THOMPSON OF SUNDERLAND. HIT A SEVERE STORM AROUND CAPE HORN & ONLY JUST MADE IT TO STANLEY AFTER SOME OF HER CREW HAD BEEN WASHED OVERBOARD. (LLOYDS, 4.11.97, PEOPLE & PLACES ARTICLE).
