BUILT IN 1943 BY BETHLEHEM-FAIRFIELD, BALTIMORE. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY LOYAL NAVIGATION CO SA. PASSAGE DA-NANG FOR KAOHSIANG. WAS FORCED ONTO PRATAS REEF BY TYPHOON 'EMMA'. CREW WERE RESCUED THE FOLLOWING DAY BY UNITED STATES NAVAL HELICOPTERS FROM USS CORAL SEA AFTER VESSEL HAD TAKEN A POUNDING FROM COLOSSAL WAVES WHICH SWEPT OVER THE FUNNEL AND TORE OPEN THE SHIP'S SIDE. (MSD).
