BUILT IN 1903. NORMAND BOILERS, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINES OF 6300 IHP FOR 20 KNOTS. ONE 9PDR, SIX 3PDR, TWO TORPEDO TUBES. ON RETURN FROM PATROL ATTACKED THE GERMAN RAIDER 'EMDEN' WITH GREAT VIGOUR. WAS SUNK IN SEVEN MINUTES. EMDEN HAD PREVIOULY SUNK THE RUSSIAN CRUISER 'JEMCHUG' AND WAS PREPARING TO CAPTURE SHIPPING. 36 FROM CREW OF 62 RECOVERED BY EMDEN, OF WHOM 3 LATER DIED. (DODS).
