BUILT IN 1898 BY GRANGEMOUTH DOCKYARD CO, GRANGEMOUTH. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY ORDERS & HANFORD SS CO LTD. TWO BOILERS, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE OF 185HP, SINGLE SHAFT. MACHINERY BY HUTSON & SON, GLASGOW. PASSAGE THE TYNE FOR SCAPA FLOW. SANK QUICKLY AFTER A LOUD EXPLOSION UNDER THE VESSEL, NO SUBMARINE OR TORPEDO TRACK HAVING BEEN SIGHTED. CREW TAKEN OFF BY PATROL VESSEL. NO LIVES LOST. (SIBI).
