26.7.22 DISTRIBUTED REMAINS OF WRECK DISCOVERED IN 5041.797N, 0134.191W [WGD]. (FOUND BY MARTIN PRITCHARD IN 2018 DURING A SSS SURVEY). FOLLOWING DIVING INVESTIGATIONS IT WAS REPORTED TO HISTORIC ENGLAND, DUE TO A DECORATIVE BRONZE GUN DISCOVERED. INS NDW. 26.7.22 STATUTORY INSTRUMENT; SI 2022 NUMBER 535, CAME INTO EFFECT 2/6/2022. SHINGLES BANK WRECK NW68, REST'D AREA RADIUS 75MTRS HAS BEEN DESIGNATED HISTORIC UNDER THE PROTECTION OF WRECKS ACT 1973. (E-MAIL RUSSELL MAN dtd 6/6/22, LISTING OFFICER HISTORIC ENGLAND; CASE NUMBER 1481196). ADD HISTORIC.

Circumstances of loss

The wreck was first identified by divers working with a local dive-charter skipper investigating a range of sites on the western side of the Isle of Wight on 2018. During these dives cannons, a large anchor, corroded iron features, along with other features were identified.
