TIME OF DIVE 3-3.5HOURS BEFORE HW AT ST HELIER. ON BOTH OCCASIONS DEPTH FOUND TO BE 30MTRS TO A FINE SHINGLE/COARSE SAND SEABED. HIGHEST POINT OF WK WAS ESTIMATED AS 10MTRS ABOVE SEABED. WK APPEARED TO BE A SMALL COASTER ABOUT 50MTRS IN LENGTH, 10MTRS WIDTH. LYING UPRIGHT ON A FLAT SEABED. BOWS SLIGHTLY TWISTED BUT NOT VISIBLY HOLED. A SINGLE MAST/DERRICK LIES ALONG CENTRELINE OF THE WK OVER ONE HOLD. PROPELLER MISSING. HULL SOUND. STRANGE OBJECTS ABOUT 400MM LONG, 250MM DIAMETER, CYLINDRICAL METAL WITH FOUR RODS PROJECTING IN CROSS FORMATION AT ONE END, SEEN AND GIVEN WIDE BERTH BY DIVERS. (J H SIMMONS, 4.9.75). THIS WK AND THE ONE IN 492630N, 023130W [23243] MAY BE ONE & THE SAME. H3635/71 10.9.79 KNOWN LOCALLY AS 'CEMENT WK' BECAUSE OF CARGO. THOUGHT TO BE DUTCH SHIP 'OOST VLAANDEREN'. COMPARISON WITH PHOTOGRAPH OF SHIP SEEMS TO SUPPORT THIS, AS DO LENGTH & BEAM MEASUREMENTS. VIRTUALLY INTACT.
