BUILT IN 1944 BY DEUTSCHE WERFT A.G. AS 'FANGTURM'. LATER RENAMED 'EMPIRE GALLOP' FOLLOWING INTERNMENT DURING WW2. LATER RETURNED TO GERMAN OWNERSHIP AND RENAMED. 'PALMYRA' OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY BOCK, GODEFFROY & CO. PASSAGE HAMBURG FOR ISTANBUL. SANK AFTER A COLLISION WITH THE `BRITISH MARINER' ABOUT 20M OFF USHANT. (R V MARTIN, DODS).
