Circumstances of loss
BUILT 1905 BY BLOHM & VOSS. PASSAGE BUENOS AIRES FOR HAMBURG, WHEN ABOUT 600M W OF THE AZORES RAN INTO A HURRICANE WHICH BLEW AWAY HER CANVAS AND FORCED HER OVER AND SUBSEQUENTLY SUBMERGED HER. THERE WERE 6 SURVIVORS FROM THE 35 CREW AND 51 CADETS. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY STIFTUNG PAMIR UND PASSAT. (DODS)
