Circumstances of loss
PASSAGE LONDON FOR LEITH IN CONVOY. TORPEDOED BY UB-88. 3 MEN LOST. REMAINING CREW OF 23 RECOVERED BY A A TRAWLER, WHICH HAD JUST RECOVERED 11 MEN FROM DORA WHICH HAD BEEN TORPEDOED CLOSE BY 6 MINUTES EARLIER. DORA AND MAUD WERE THE LEADING VESSELS IN THE CONVOY. TAKEN IN TOW BY TWO ESCORT TRAWLERS BUT SANK 25 MINUTES LATER, SOME 45 MINUTES AFTER HAVING BEEN HIT. (R YOUNG). TORPEDOED AND SUNK BY GERMAN SUBMARINE. (WW1SL). NO REFERENCE TO THIS SINKING IN DER KREIG ZUR SEE.
