BUILT IN 1931 BY SOC ANON JOHN COCKERELL. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY BELGIAN STATE RAILWAYS. TURBINE ENGINES OF 2779NHP FOR 23 KNOTS. A CROSS-CHANNEL FERRY. STRUCK A MINE IN A SHALLOW CHANNEL. WAS THEN RUN ON TO A SANDBANK ALLOWING PASSENGERS AND CREW TO DISEMBARK BEFORE SINKING. NO LIVES LOST. (DODS).
