Surveying Details SINKING POSN GIVEN AS 563000N, 054200W. SEE ALSO ALEKSANDAR [2711]. H5249/73 14.1.74 POSN AND AREA SOUNDED OUT, NOTHING LOCATED. (BOAT PARTY, NP 5640). NCA. 6.12.82 BALLISTA [2712], DESCRIBED AS A PUFFER. REPORTED AS INTACT, LYING UPRIGHT, ON TOP OF 2 OTHER WKS, ONE A STEEL DRIFTER, 80FT LONG. THIS IS POSSIBLY THE ARDFERN, WHICH SANK 1950 (SEE ALEXANDER [2711]). THE LOWEST WK IS AN 80FT IRON VESSEL. RIBS OF A FURTHER IRON WK LIES CLOSE TO NE. (BSAC WK REGISTER). 12.1.09 DATA RE-ASSESSED. WK LIES BENEATH THE BALLISTA [2712] & ALEXANDER [2711]. POSN AMENDED TO 5630.156N, 0542.049W. COVERED BY [2712]. AMEND DEAD.

EX-HENRY BUTCHER. BUILT IN 1918 BY HALL, RUSSEL & CO LTD, ABERDEEN. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY G G PATON. GRANTON. ONE BOILER, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE OF 57HP. SINGLE SHAFT. PASSAGE GRANTON FOR FISHING AND RETURN. DROVE ASHORE IN A GALE AFTER ENGINE BREAKDOWN. ONE REPORT SUGGESTS BUNKERS WERE THROWN OVERBOARD AND VESSEL REFLOATED HERSELF, HOWEVER LLOYDS CASUALTY REGISTER SUGGESTS WK REMAINED ON THE ROCKS. (SIBI).
