Circumstances of loss
BUILT IN 1889. PASSAGE PHIPPSBURG FOR HAIVE. COLLIDED WITH THE 'MAGELLAN' ON A CALM NIGHT OFF CAPE HORN. MADE FOR THE FALKLANDS, BUT STUCK FAST ON PINACLE IN PORT PLEASANT. CAPTAIN CARVER COMMITTED SUICIDE AFTER, THIS BEING HIS THIRD SHIPWRECK. CARGO OF CAST IRON, TOYS, COFFEE, WHISKY, INK, SOAP & CARPET. (DOWNEAST MAGAZINE, JULY 1979).
