STERN LIES HALF OVER TO PORT WHILE FROM THE BOILER TO THE BOWS THE WRECK IS UPRIGHT, BUT HAS COLLAPSED TO PORT. SPARE PROP IS CLOSE TO THE BOILER ON THE STBD SIDE. BUILT IN 1896 BY SCOTT & SONS, BOWLING. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY ACTIESELSKABET START. ONE BOILER, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE OF 98 NHP, SINGLE SHAFT. MACHINERY BY ROSS & DUNCAN, GLASGOW. PASSAGE SWANSEA FOR ROUEN. TORPEDOED BY UB-58. (D C WENDES). SANK FOLLOWING A SEVERE EXPLOSION WHICH WAS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A MINE. (WW1SL). SUNK BY UB 57. ONLY TWO OF CREW ESCAPED. THEY WERE RECOVERED BY HMT THOMAS CHAMBERS. (DORSET SHIPWRECKS).
