Circumstances of loss

12.1.93 CARGO, 200 TONS DYNAMITE IN HOLD AND 200,000 PERCUSSION CAPS IN CONTAINERS ON DECK, SHIFTED IN HEAVY SEAS CAUSING THE VESSEL TO LIST 45 - 50 DEGREES. SHE WAS TAKEN IN TOW BUT LINE BROKE THREE TIMES AND VESSEL EVENTUALLY SANK UPSIDE DOWN IN SHALLOW WATER AFTER GROUNDING. VESSEL EXPLODED THE FOLLOWING DAY. (LL 11, 12.1.93).
