Circumstances of loss
BUILT IN 1952 BY HARNA ZOSENSHO, AIOI. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY TRANSWORLD (JAPAN) LTD. PASSAGE YOSU, S KOREA, FOR KARACHI. ANCHORED OFF KEELING DUE TO WATER ENTERING THE ENGINE ROOM THROUGH THE STERN GLAND. CREW TAKEN OFF WHEN IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO PUMP OUT THE WATER. ACCOMMODATION AND BRIDGE AREAS HAD BEEN FLOODED BY THIS STAGE. ON 14 OCT, WHILE STILL AT ANCHOR, WAS DRIVEN ASHORE BY SEVERE WINDS FROM TYPHOON 'ORA'. BROKE IN TWO AND SANK. (MSD).
