Surveying Details

14.11.77 SUNK IN ENTRANCE TO RHYL HARBOUR. PARTIALLY BLOCKING ENTRANCE. MAST SHOWING AT LW. (LL, 14.11.77). NCA. 12.3.99 PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT TO BE SAME AS WK [7504] (QV). HH100/351/14 12.3.99 WK DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS POSN. AFTER BREAKING MOORINGS THE OWNER, M CAMPANI, AND ANOTHER MANAGED TO BOARD HER. THEY STARTED THE ENGINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE RUDDER HAD BEEN DAMAGED AND THE VESSEL COULD NOT BE STEERED. VESSEL WAS BEACHED IN A SMALL SANDY BAY IN THE RIVER. THE HULL HAD BEEN HOLED AND HAD SHIPPED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER. THE NEXT TIDE MOVED 'VIKING' SOME 400 YARDS SEAWARD AND THE FOLLOWING MORNING SHE CAME TO REST APPROX HALF WAY ALONG THE TRAINING WALL. A LARGE MACHINE WAS HIRED TO BREAK UP THE 'VIKING'. THE DEBRIS WAS REMOVED FROM THE BEACH AND BURNED. (A PARRY). RECORD AMENDED LIFT. NCA.
