1.8.83 BUILT IN 1874 BY PALMER'S CO. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY MACINTYRE BROS & CO. COMPOUND INVERTED ENGINE OF 140 NHP. PASSAGE MADRAS FOR LONDON. BROKE PROPELLER SHAFT ON 1.8.83, 12 MILES OFF CAPE ST VINCENT. WAS TOWED TO LISBON BY A PASSING SHIP. WAS RECOVERED TO ENGLAND BY S TUG RECOVERY BUT CAME INTO COLLISION WITH FRENCH LINER ST GERMAIN (3659 GT) AND SANK WITHIN 5 MINUTES. THE MASTER, 16 CREW AND 1 PASSENGER LOST. 11 RESCUED BY 'RECOVERY'. (DODS).
