Circumstances of loss
The wreck lies exposed in the intertidal zone on Tankerton Beach, north Kent. A site visit by Historic Englandstaff in April 2016, along with colleagues from Timescapes Kent and CITiZAN, measured the exposedremains as being 12.14m long x 5m wide and noted that these appeared to be the bottom timbers of a oncemuch larger vessel. The wreck is recorded simply as an 'oval feature' in the Kent HER (ref. TR 16 NW 1019)having been observed in 1996 by Timescapes Kent (a local historical/archaeological group) and in 1998 during the North Kent Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
