VESSEL, BUILT 1945 BY KAISER CO., INC., RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY RIO GRANDE TRANSPORT, INC.. ON PASSAGE FROM COMEAU BAY TO TUNISIA. SANK FOLLOWING COLLISION WITH ALGERIAN MV 'IBN BATOUTA' IN THICK FOG APPROX 14M SE OF GIBRALTAR. VESSELS DRIFTED, LOCKED TOGETHER, EASTWARDS. THEY WERE SEPARATED THE NEXT DAY BUT YELLOWSTONE SANK 77M SE OF GIBALTAR. 5 OF HER CREW DIED. (MSD).
