Circumstances of loss
1.5.45 3RD MINESWEEPER DIVISION (NYMS 379, 380, 381 & 382) WERE TRANSFERRED FROM CHERBOURG TO PLYMOUTH ABOUT 1.5.45. AT 1700HRS 7.5.45 THEY LEFT PLYMOUTH WITH ORDERS FOR ROSYTH. WAS TORPEDOED BY U1023. 22 MEN LOST. (U1023 LATER BECAME BRITISH BOAT N 86, USED FOR TESTS AND LATER SUNK IN OPERATION DEADLIGHT 7.1.46). NYMS 382 WAS ARMED WITH 1 X 3 INCH AND 2 X 20MM OERLIKON. CARRIED 18 DEPTH CHARGES AND HAD A COMPLEMENT OF 33.
