27.1.46 BUILT IN 1942 BY MCLELLAN, GLASGOW AND ERECTED AT PAISLEY. OIL ENGINES OF 920 BHP FOR 10 KNOTS. TWIN SHAFT. CARGO OF 137 TONS 2CWT OF UNFUSED 75MM SHELLS, AND 59TONS 14CWT OF FUSES. PASSAGE SILLOTH FOR MILITARY PORT OF CAIRNRYAN I CONVOS WITH ADCS 523 & 8080 WITH THE EXCORT VESSEL ML RICHMOND. LOST IN 60 KNOT GALE WITH CREW OF 12. TEN BODIES WASHED ASHORE BETWEEN RASCARREL AND COUNAN BEACH NEAR GLASSERTON ALONG THE WIGTOWNSHIRE AND KIRKCUDBRIGHTSHIRE COASTS BETWEEN 11 AND 27.1.46. DEBRIS FROM VESSEL RECORDED AS BEING WASHED ASHORE AT GARLIESTON, KIRKANDREWS, MUNCRAIG AND THE ISLES OF FLEET. NONE OF THE CARGO OF MUNITIONS WAS RECOVERED. (MOD ENV POL(SEC)).
