26.1.00 BUILT IN ABOUT 1958. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY AL JAZYA MARINE & SHIPPING SERVIES, ABU DHABI. A CONVERTED WATER TANKER WITH SIX PAIRS OF TANKS. SANK IN HEAVY WEATHER, POSSIBLY DUE TO WATER INGRESS FORWARD. PASSAGE FOR SOMALIA WITH 950 TONS OF HEAVY FUEL OIL AND 15 TONS OF DIESEL BUNKERS. FUEL HAD BEEN SOLD AT AUCTION AT ABU DHABI FREE PORT AFTER BEING CONFISCATED BY UN FORCES ENFORCING SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAQ. VESSEL DESCRIBED AS BEING IN POOR CONDITION. (LL, 26.1.00)
