EX-KARKONOSZE '83. BUILT IN 1975 BY AB OSKARSHAMNS VARV, OSKARSHAMN. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY PATRON MARINE CO LTD. BROKE IN TWO FOLLOWING A FIRE AND EXPLOSION. BOW SECTION SANK IN 403800N, 511000W APPROX. AFTER DRIFTING FOR 40 DAYS, STILL ON FIRE, THE AFTER SECTION WAS TAKEN IN TOW BY SPANISH FV KENY AND M TRAWLER COSMOS BOUND FOR VIGO. LATER TOW WAS TRANSFERRED TO M TUG REMOLCANOSA CUATRO BUT VESSEL BEGAN TO TAKE IN WATER RAPIDLY AND SANK. (LL & MSD).
