Circumstances of loss

VESSEL, BUILT 1959, SANK WHILE ON PASSAGE FROM CORUNNA TO CARTAGENA WHEN SHE COLLIDED WITH FRENCH TANKER 'FABIOLA' IN VERY DENSE FOG. IMMEDIATELY AFTER COLLISION AN EXPLOSION OCCURED & FIRE BROKE OUT. 'BONIFAZ' SANK WITHIN HALF AN HOUR. 25 LIVES WERE LOST DUE TO THE INCIDENT. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY FERNANDO M PEREDA. (MSD).
