BUILT IN 1913 BY J FRERICHS & CO. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY LEYLAND LINE. ORIGINALLY HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINER 'KAMERUM'. WAS FOUND AS A DERELICT IN LAMERUN R, W AFRICA. WAS TAKEN TO LIVERPOOL BY A PRIZE CREW FROM HMS CUMBERLAND. HANDED OVER TO LEYLAND LINE. PASSAGE SUDA BAY FOR ALEXANDRIA WITH MANY MULES. TORPEDOED BY A SUBMARINE 50M OFF HER DESTINATION WITH LOSS OF 43 LIVES. (DODS, WW1SL, LL WW1).
