HIRED AS TROOP TRANSPORT TO TAKE REINFORCEMENTS TO GENERAL ALLENBY'S ARMY IN PALASTINE. WAS ALLOWED TO ENTER ALEXANDRIA HARBOUR BUT WAS LATER ORDERED OUTSIDE TO ANCHOR WITHOUT PROTECTION. TORPEDOED & SUNK BY A SUBMARINE WITH THE LOSS OF 610 LIVES. (DODS, LL WW1, WW1SL).
