BUILT IN 1943 BY PERMANETE METALS CORP. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY U.S. WAR SHIPPING ADMINISTRATION. TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE OF 339NHP. BROKE IN TWO FOLLOWING U/W EXPLOSION CAUSED EITHER BY MINE OR TORPEDO. AFTER PART SANK, BUT FORE PART EVENTUALLY DRIFTED ASHORE. 29 LIVES LOST. (DODS).
