(SII).Located close to the shoreline at Whiterocks, Ballymagarry c. 2.5km east of the town of Portrush, Co. Antrim. The Devereux, a barque built in the 1830s, was caught in storms and wrecked at Whiterocks, Co Antrim, on 5th September 1864.The wreck is located just below Mean Low Water Mark (MLWM) with timbers periodically exposed at low tide. Storms in Feb/March 2022 revealed the near entirety of the main body of the wreck; remains measure, L 29.8m, W 7.3m & standing 1.7m proud of the seabed at the bow; concreted anchor chains (that the vessel had been dragging from Glengad Bay, Co. Donegal) lying off the stern; ballast stones in-situ; wooden treenails (fastening 'pegs'), rigging components (such as dead-eyes), an anchor & iron stanchions evident. Aerial orthophotography of the Whiterocks area show relatively regular exposure and reburial of the wreck since 2003.
