VESSEL, BUILT 1942 BY C. CONNELL & CO., LTD.. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY MINISTRY OF WAR TRANSPORT [G.NISBET & CO.]. ON PASSAGE FROM BONA AND GIBRALTAR FOR UK [OHMS]. WAS MINED WHEN OFF TANGIER. THE VESSEL BROKE IN TWO, THE BOW SECTION SANK AND THE STERN SECTION REMAINED AFLOAT. A TUG WAS DESPATCHED BUT THE STERN HAD SUNK BEFORE THE TUG'S ARRIVAL. OF THE 54 CREW AND 16 GUNNERS, 12 CREW AND 3 GUNNERS PERISHED. (DODS, LLOYDS WAR LOSSES WWII, THE EMPIRE SHIPS).
