VESSEL, BUILT 1898 BY VICKERS,SONS & MAXIM. OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY CAYZER, IRVINE & CO [CLAN LINE]. WAS IN CONVOY WITH 28 OTHER VESSELS ESCORTED BY 2 AMERICAN DESTROYERS AND SEVERAL TRAWLERS. WHEN CROSSING THE BAY OF BISCAY THE CONVOY SEPARATED AND THE CLAN FERGUSON SET COURSE FOR GIBRALTAR. WHEN 15M NW OF CAPE SPARTEL SHE WAS TORPEDOED AND SUNK BY A SUBMARINE AND SANK IN 7 MINUTES. 10 MEN WERE LOST. (DODS & LL WWI).
