Circumstances of loss

VESSEL, OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY CAVO GATA PETROL TANKER LTD. ON PASSAGE GELA FOR JOUNIEH. WHILE ENTERING AQUAMARINA, A SHELTERED BAY ABOUT 1M N OF JOUNIE PORT, TO DISCHARGE GASOLINE SHE HIT THE BOTTOM. TOOK ON WATER & WAS TOWED TO DEEP WATER. LISTED DANGEROUSLY, BROKE THE ANCHOR CHAIN & WAS TOWED BACK TO AQUAMARINA WHERE SHE SANK & SETTLED ON THE ROCKY BOTTOM, WITH TWO THIRDS UNDER WATER. ALL CREW SAFE. A NOTICE WAS GIVE TO REMOVE BUT HAD NO RESPONSE. (LLOYDS VOLS.225, 226, 232 & 238).
